KUWAIT CITY, Aug 6: Kuwait will experience extremely hot and dry weather over the weekend, with temperatures expected to reach up to 50 degrees Celsius, accompanied by dust-raising winds in some areas, the Meteorological Department said.
Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali said weather maps and forecasts indicate that the country is being affected by an extension of the Indian monsoon low, bringing a hot and dry air mass. Light to moderate northwesterly winds will prevail, occasionally becoming active and causing dust, especially in open areas.
Thursday Weather Forecast:
The weather will be very hot, with northwesterly winds ranging from light to moderate and occasionally becoming active at speeds of 15 to 45 km/h, raising dust in exposed areas. Some high clouds may appear. Maximum temperatures are expected to range between 48°C and 50°C. Sea conditions will be light to moderate, with waves reaching 2 to 5 feet.
During the night, the weather will remain hot to warm, with temperatures ranging between 33°C and 35°C. Winds will continue from the northwest at speeds of 12 to 35 km/h, with sea waves between 1 and 5 feet.
Friday Forecast:
The country will continue to experience very hot weather, with northwesterly to variable winds ranging from 10 to 35 km/h. Maximum temperatures are expected between 48°C and 50°C, while sea conditions remain light to moderate with waves of 1 to 4 feet.
Friday night will be hot to warm, with minimum temperatures expected between 32°C and 34°C and winds ranging from 12 to 35 km/h.
Saturday Forecast:
Very hot weather is expected, with increasing relative humidity, especially in coastal areas. Winds will be northwesterly to variable, ranging between 8 and 35 km/h. Maximum temperatures are forecast between 46°C and 48°C.
Saturday night will remain hot to warm and relatively humid, particularly near coastal areas, with southeasterly winds at speeds of 10 to 30 km/h. Minimum temperatures are expected between 31°C and 33°C.
The Meteorological Department advised residents to remain cautious during peak afternoon hours, especially in open areas affected by heat and dust, and to take necessary precautions against extreme temperatures.
