Scorching Weekend Ahead: Kuwait to See Temperatures Up
Kuwait Meteorological Department forecasts scorching temperatures and dusty conditions throughout the weekend.

KUWAIT CITY, July 17: The Meteorological Department (MD) has forecasted very hot weather conditions over the upcoming weekend, with temperatures remaining high even during nighttime hours, the department’s acting director, Dharar Al-Ali, announced on Thursday.

The country is currently influenced by an extension of the Indian monsoon depression, bringing with it a very hot and dry air mass. Winds are expected to blow from the northwest to variable directions, at speeds ranging from light to moderate. These winds may become active at times, leading to dust storms, especially in open areas, as well as high sea waves intermittently accompanied by scattered clouds.

Al-Ali detailed that on Thursday, daytime temperatures will soar between 48 and 50 degrees Celsius, with relatively humid conditions along coastal areas. Winds will range between 10 and 45 kilometers per hour, occasionally intensifying, raising the possibility of dust storms in exposed regions. The sea state is predicted to be light to moderate with waves measuring between one and four feet.

Thursday night will bring hot to very hot temperatures, ranging from 33 to 35 degrees Celsius. Winds from the northwest will remain light to moderate, occasionally active near coastal zones, with speeds between 12 and 40 kilometers per hour. Sea waves will increase at times, reaching heights between two and six feet.

Looking ahead to Friday, similarly very hot conditions are expected, with maximum temperatures between 46 and 48 degrees Celsius. Winds will blow northwest at light to moderate speeds, sometimes gusting up to 50 kilometers per hour, contributing to dusty conditions. The sea will be generally light to moderate with waves rising between two and six feet.

Friday night temperatures will range from 31 to 33 degrees Celsius, accompanied by light to moderate northwesterly winds, occasionally intensifying. The sea conditions will remain similar, with waves fluctuating between two and six feet.

Saturday’s forecast predicts continued very hot weather, with daytime highs between 46 and 48 degrees Celsius. Winds will be light to moderate from the northwest to variable directions, ranging from 8 to 38 kilometers per hour, with some scattered clouds expected. The sea will remain calm to moderate, with waves between one and four feet.

Saturday night will see temperatures between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, with northwesterly winds maintaining light to moderate speeds of 12 to 38 kilometers per hour. Sea waves will be light to moderate, reaching heights between two and five feet.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during this period of extreme heat and dusty conditions.
