Kuwait Boxing Federation unveils 2026-27 competition calendar

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: The Kuwait Boxing Federation has approved its competition calendar for the 2026-27 sports season, featuring 10 local tournaments across various age groups as part of efforts to provide boxers with a busy and competitive schedule.

The new season will begin with the first junior tournament, scheduled for September 26-30.

The federation said the competitions form part of its development program aimed at raising the technical standards of boxers at different age levels, identifying promising talent, and enhancing their skills ahead of upcoming domestic and international events.

Kuwait Boxing Federation President Abdullah Khaled Al-Otaibi said the new season would be packed with competitions, with the federation committed to staging all age-group tournaments according to the approved schedule.

He said the federation’s committees had been working throughout the summer break to ensure they were fully prepared for the new season. The preparations involve the technical, refereeing, and media committees, along with the federation’s other administrative committees.

Al-Otaibi stressed that the board was determined to ensure the season was organized to a standard befitting the reputation of Kuwaiti boxing. He added that successful domestic competitions would contribute to improving athletes’ performances and preparing national team boxers for upcoming international commitments.

He wished all members of the boxing community success during the new season and called for continued cooperation among all stakeholders to achieve the federation’s objectives.

Al-Otaibi also thanked the clubs for their continued support and cooperation, describing them as key partners in the success of the federation’s competitions.
