Kuwait Boxing Federation launches new season with junior championship

KUWAIT CITY, Sept. 26: The Kuwait Boxing Federation launched its 2026-27 season with the opening of the first Junior Championship at its hall in Sabah Al-Salem. The tournament runs until Sept. 30.

The event brings together young boxers from various age groups and represents the federation’s first competition of the new season.

The championship is aimed at identifying promising talent while providing young boxers with valuable opportunities to compete, gain experience, and develop their skills early in their sporting careers.

Kuwait Boxing Federation President Abdullah Khaled Al-Otaibi said the board is working to broaden participation in boxing, with particular emphasis on youth categories as the foundation for developing future national teams.

He added that the federation is keen to provide young athletes with regular opportunities to compete in local tournaments.

“The championship is part of the federation’s plan for the new sports season. It will strengthen boxing’s presence across different age groups and help identify new talent that can be developed and prepared to represent Kuwait in upcoming competitions,” Al-Otaibi said.
