Kuwait blacklists 17 new narcotics

KUWAIT CITY, May 31: The Ministry of Health has added 17 narcotic substances to the approved list as per Law No. 159/2025 on combating narcotics and psychotropic substances. Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi issued Decision No. 165/2026 to update the list, specifically groups one, two and four attached to Law No. 159/2025 on combating narcotics and psychotropic substances and regulating their use and trafficking. This move aims to keep pace with developments related to narcotic and psychotropic substances, and intensify national efforts to prevent drug trafficking and mitigate the associated risks. The decision was published in the official gazette, ‘Kuwait Al-Youm’, stipulating the inclusion of 17 narcotic substances, along with their minerals, isotopes, derivatives and hydrolysates, to the approved list as per the abovementioned law. Article One of the decision states the addition of four types of narcotic substances to Group One as follows: N-pyrrolidinoprotonitazine (N1-135), N-pyrrolidinoprotonitazine (N1-136), etonitazepipine (N1-137) and Ndecylisotonitazine (N1-138). Articles Two, Three and Four stipulate adding 13 more substances, along with their minerals, isotopes and hydrolysates, to Group Two and Group Four as per the classifications specified in Law No. 159/2025.
