KUWAIT CITY, Dec 30: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Department of Criminal Evidence, has carried out the first phase of implementing random testing to detect use of narcotic substances and psychotropic drugs among its personnel. The measure comes within a comprehensive plan aimed at strengthening job discipline and reinforcing the principle of role model conduct and responsibility across security sectors, the ministry said in a press statement Tuesday. The ministry said the first phase of testing included members of the Police Sports Federation, headed by the federation’s chairman Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Yousef Al- Sabah, accompanied by his deputy, board members, and all federation personnel.
The ministry added that the procedure is in implementation of Law No.159 of 2025 on combating drugs and psychotropic substances, within an approved timetable covering all Interior Ministry sectors. It also said the plan includes periodic and random testing linked to promotion, supervisory appointments, hiring, and investigations, affirming firm implementation to enhance readiness, discipline, and maintain a safe, violation-free work environment (KUNA)
