Kuwait begins Jeddah preparations as Sheikh Al-Yousef urges players to give their best at Gulf Cup 27

JEDDAH, Sept 16: Kuwait Football Association (KFA) President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Yousef met with the administrative and technical staff and players of the Kuwait national team at their Doha training camp the day before yesterday, urging them to step up their efforts and deliver their best at the 27th Gulf Cup.

Sheikh Al-Yousef called on the players to show commitment in training and represent Kuwait to the best of their ability during the regional tournament.

In Doha, Sheikh Al-Yousef also held talks with Qatar’s Minister of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Football Association President, and the Gulf Football Association President, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa. The meeting focused on the latest developments in Gulf and international football.

Sheikh Hamad later visited the Kuwait national team’s training session in Doha.

The national team has now moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where it will continue preparations after concluding its Doha camp.

Eight Kuwait Club players are due to join the squad this morning after featuring against UAE side Al-Wahda last night in the AFC Champions League Two. They are Khaled Al-Rashidi, Saud Al-Houshan, Mohsen Falah, Redha Hani, Abdullah Al-Qurzaei, Ahmad Al-Dhafiri, Mohammad Daham and Yousef Nasser.

Kuwait will hold a training session before facing Yemen in a friendly tomorrow, Friday, in its final stage of preparation for the Gulf Cup.

The draw placed Kuwait in Group A alongside hosts Saudi Arabia, Oman and Iraq. Kuwait will open its campaign against Saudi Arabia on September 23, face Iraq on September 26, and conclude the group stage against Oman on September 29.

Group B consists of Bahrain, the UAE, Qatar, and Yemen.
