KUWAIT CITY, Oct 26 : Kuwait Municipality has begun implementing demolition and removal orders against violating properties in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, with 263 properties included in the first phase of a wider government campaign to address building violations in the area.

The action follows the failure of property owners to comply voluntarily with demolition orders. Warnings were published in the official gazette, paving the way for the authorities to proceed with enforcement measures in accordance with legal procedures.

Informed municipal sources stated that the campaign is being implemented according to a timetable divided into three phases, with further properties scheduled for demolition as the required administrative and technical procedures are completed.

The first phase covers 263 properties that are now subject to demolition after the completion of the required legal procedures.

The second phase involves 494 properties, with demolition procedures expected to begin in three weeks, following the issuance of the approved decision by the Director General of Kuwait Municipality.

The third phase remains pending, as the municipality awaits technical reports and detailed information from the Ministry of Public Works. The properties covered by this phase will be incorporated into the implementation schedule once the required documents are received.

Property owners to bear demolition costs

The sources stressed that the regulations would be enforced strictly and that owners of violating properties would be responsible for the full costs of demolition and debris removal.

The charges will be calculated based on detailed estimates that take into account the transportation route, equipment required, number of floors and total area of each building.

The cost assessment is intended to reflect the actual requirements of each demolition operation, with the final amount determined after the relevant details have been accurately evaluated.

The campaign forms part of the government's broader efforts to address property violations in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, with demolition operations proceeding in stages as legal requirements and technical assessments are completed.
