DUBAI, Aug 25: Kuwait begins its campaign in the Asian qualifiers for the 2029 FIBA Asia Cup today, facing Oman in the opening round of the first qualifying window in the UAE.

The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Shabab Al Ahli Club’s arena in Dubai. The first window runs through August 31.

The other Group match today sees hosts UAE take on Nepal at 4 p.m., while Bahrain is also included in the group.

Under the qualifying format, three teams from each group will advance to the second window in November. The results of that stage will determine the eight teams that join 16 of Asia’s top-ranked teams in the third and final qualifying window for the 2029 FIBA Asia Cup.

Kuwait will be seeking a winning start under new Greek coach Vassilios Bratsiakos and will hope to collect the first two points of their campaign.

The Blues know that a positive result in the opening game could provide an important boost ahead of their remaining qualifiers, with the players determined to deliver a strong performance and put their campaign on the right track.
