Kuwait Bar targets expats offering online legal advice

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 21: The Board of Directors of Kuwait Bar Association took disciplinary measures in order to protect the integrity of the legal profession and ensure full compliance with its governing regulations. Key decisions included the removal of 11 lawyers from the Association's register after a thorough review of their professional status confirmed that they did not meet the registration requirements stipulated in the Legal Profession Law.

Also, three law firms were suspended due to serious professional and legal violations. The suspensions were imposed after it was established that these firms were being managed by individuals not authorized to practice law. Finally, the Board approved the filing of several reports against expatriates who posted videos on social media platforms offering legal advice — a violation of the law. These measures were implemented following the completion of the necessary legal procedures, in line with the Board's commitment to address violations and protect the legal profession.
