Kuwait Bans Visas For Expats With Unclear HIV Tests

KUWAIT CITY, May 15: Kuwait’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, has issued a directive barring residency applicants and new arrivals from entering the country if their HIV antibody test results are deemed “indeterminate.” Such individuals will be classified as medically unfit.

The Ministry of Health clarified that PCR testing cannot be used as an alternative for confirming HIV status in these cases. Instead, individuals must undergo two additional antibody tests and two PCR tests for both types of the virus to determine final eligibility.

This move is part of broader efforts to tighten health screenings for incoming labor, following similar guidelines for indeterminate Hepatitis C cases. The Ministry stressed that public health remains a top priority and that all testing must adhere strictly to approved procedures to protect society and ensure medical accuracy.
