Kuwait bans import of meat and eggs

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 28: Secretary of the Supreme Committee for Food Safety at the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition Eng Adel Al-Suwait said the committee has recommended banning the import of all types of bird meat from some countries due to the outbreak of bird influenza virus, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a press statement, Al-Suwait revealed that the committee made the following recommendations during its meeting number 9/2023: Impose an import ban on all types of fresh, chilled, frozen and processed poultry meat of all types and their derivatives; as well as table eggs, unless they underwent heat treatment at a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius. This measure is recommended due to the outbreak of the highly virulent bird flu in 12 states in the United States of America; as well as Morbihan, France.
