KUWAIT CITY, Jun 11: The Ministry of Interior held a coordination meeting chaired by Major General Hamad Ahmed Al-Munaifi, Head of the Security Directorates Sector, with officials and representatives of Husseiniyas, in preparation for the upcoming month of Muharram.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the General Fire Force, Kuwait Municipality, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, and the Emergency Medical Services of the Ministry of Health, reflecting a joint effort to ensure safety and smooth organisation during religious observances.
At the outset, Major General Al-Munaifi conveyed greetings from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, stressing the ministry’s commitment to providing all necessary resources to ensure a safe and orderly environment for religious rituals. He also praised the cooperation between government agencies and Husseiniya officials.
The meeting outlined key regulatory guidelines, including a ban on raising banners or flags outside Husseiniya premises in line with approved regulations, limiting cooking activities to designated schools for safety reasons, and enforcing attendance controls within Husseiniyas. Authorities also stressed the importance of full cooperation with Ministry of Interior personnel and adherence to official instructions.
In addition, the meeting emphasized that donations must only be collected through channels officially approved by the Ministry of Social Affairs, as part of efforts to ensure transparency and maintain public order.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its continued coordination with all relevant authorities and its commitment to using all available resources to maintain security and provide a safe environment for the observance of religious ceremonies.
