KUWAIT CITY, Apr 6: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a decision prohibiting cash transactions exceeding 10 Kuwaiti dinars in several service sectors, in a move aimed at regulating payments and strengthening financial transparency.
The decision, issued by Minister Osama Boodai, applies to businesses including health institutes, men’s and women’s salons, children’s salons, sports clubs, medical pest control and rodent control companies, as well as activities related to the import, export, and storage of public health pesticides.
Under the new rules, all payments above the specified limit must be made through banking channels or electronic payment methods approved by the Central Bank of Kuwait, in line with existing financial regulations.
Authorities said the measure is intended to enhance oversight of financial transactions and promote the use of secure digital payment systems across regulated sectors.
