KUWAIT CITY, Aug 27: Kuwait’s Banking Association (KBA) on Wednesday underlined the advanced infrastructure at its disposal as being instrumental in keeping financial scam at bay, saying that the use of such technology can mitigate the losses triggered by fraud. As part of Central Bank of Kuwait’s efforts to protect its clientele from digital banking scams, it has launched a central operations office that works round the clock to ensure that clients are shielded against potential fraudsters, KBA’s deputy chief Sheikha Al-Issa said in a statement, citing the move as a notable accomplishment for the national banking sector.
Preventive measures taken to protect bank accounts from cybercrime are both prompt and effective, the official underlined, saying that the central operations office is quick to respond to any suspicious activity that targets clients’ bank accounts, highlighting “public awareness” as crucial to prevent falling victim to scams. On the most common types of banking scams, KBA’s anti-fraud committee chief Hussain Al-Sarraf said phishing schemes such as the use of deceptive websites and fake social media accounts are the most widespread, urging clients to be “wary” and avoid disclosing their personal information (KUNA)
