Kuwait bag silver, bronze medals at Int’l Shooting GPrix

Serbia win 3 golds in pistol category

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 11: Kuwait managed to bag two medals – a silver and a bronze – in the ongoing His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah 8th International Shooting Grand Prix which is currently being held at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex. Professional shooters from Serbia bagged three gold medals in the competitions of pistol category.

According to a press release, Hamad Al-Namshan won silver in the men’s 50-meter pistol competition by scoring 537 points. Dhufur Saad Manei Al-Ajmi won bronze by recording 536 points in the same event. The gold medal went to Serbia’s seven-time world champion Damir Mikec after recording 567 points. The medals won by Al-Namshan and Al-Ajmi are considered to be their first wins in their international shooting career.

Meanwhile, the 2016 ISSF World Cup silver medalist from Serbia Milenko Sebic won the gold in the men’s ten-meter rifle competition with 247.9 points, followed by sixth-position holder in the 2013 ISSF World Cup from Oman Hamad Al-Khateri in second place with 242.8 points, and Egypt’s 2014 champion Mohammad Abdul-Qader Hamdi in third place with 221.5 points.

In women’s ten-meter rifle competition, Serbian veteran world champion Andrea Arsovic bagged the gold medal after recording 246 points, followed by the 2016 ISSF Youth World Champion from Kazakhstan Violetta Starostina in second place with 243.5 points, and Bahrain’s Sarah Al-Dousari in third place after scoring 224.5 points.

Participating in the same category was Kuwaiti shooter Maryam Arzouqi who came in fifth place with 182.3 points.
