KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed Tuesday an initiative by 12 nations to restrict trade in goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. In an official statement, the Ministry highlighted that these concerted measures-announced by Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the UK build upon growing international momentum to support Palestinian statehood under the two-state solution. The Ministry emphasized the importance of these trade restrictions in countering Israeli settlement policies, which directly violate international law and UN Security Council Resolution 2334. Kuwait called upon additional nations to adopt similar measures, reiterating its categorical rejection of any attempts to annex Palestinian lands or forcibly displace Palestinian citizens from the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The Ministry concluded by reaffirming Kuwait’s steadfast support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them the establishment of an independent state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
