KUWAIT CITY, Jun 3: Kuwait’s Hawalli Governorate Inspection and Monitoring Team carried out a field campaign in the Salmiya area, targeting commercial establishments suspected of violating intellectual property and trademark laws.
During the inspections, authorities uncovered several stores engaged in the possession, display, storage, and sale of counterfeit goods marketed under well-known international brands. Officials said the violations undermine intellectual property rights and harm Kuwait’s reputation in international indicators related to anti-counterfeiting efforts and trademark protection.
In one store, inspectors seized 3,575 counterfeit items, including bags, shoes, watches, and accessories. In another establishment, authorities discovered a concealed storage area containing 2,897 counterfeit products.
Following the raids, the violating stores were immediately shut down, and official seizure reports were filed. Legal procedures have been initiated against those responsible in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
