KUWAIT CITY, May 31: Kuwait authorities have uncovered an unlicensed warehouse used to prepare and store food products in the Al-Salhiya area as part of ongoing efforts to enforce regulations and protect public health.
According to the Ministry of Interior, officers from the Al-Salhiya Police Station discovered the facility during a routine security patrol. The operation began after police observed two Bangladeshi nationals leaving a warehouse located within the parking area of a commercial building while carrying food products.
When questioned, the men told officers that the warehouse belonged to a fast-food restaurant and that they were responsible for preparing and storing food items at the site.
A subsequent inspection revealed multiple violations, including the unauthorized use of the premises for food storage and preparation, despite the lack of required licenses. Authorities also found food products lacking production or expiry dates, and the facility was found to be lacking basic health and safety standards.
The Ministry said the warehouse was unsuitable for food preparation or storage and posed potential risks to public health.
The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition was immediately notified and dispatched an inspector to the site. Following an assessment, officials documented numerous serious health and regulatory violations and issued an official violation notice.
Legal action was taken against the tenant, a Kuwaiti citizen identified as the owner of the restaurant and sponsor of the workers involved.
The Ministry of Interior said security patrols and inspection campaigns will continue across the country to identify violations, enforce the law and safeguard public safety in coordination with relevant government agencies.
