Kuwait Authorities Confirm Stable Air Quality After Refinery Fires

KUWAIT CITY, March 19: The Environment Public Authority and Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) have reported that air quality remains within safe limits following two fires that broke out this morning at the Mina Al-Ahmadi and Mina Abdullah refineries.

Data from air pollution monitoring stations, particularly those near the affected refineries, showed no readings exceeding national standards or approved health requirements. Authorities emphasized that there is currently no direct danger to residential areas or public health.

Climate assessments indicated southeasterly winds, which have been factored into the ongoing monitoring and evaluation efforts. Both agencies confirmed that round-the-clock surveillance continues in coordination with other oil companies to ensure rapid response to any developments and to implement necessary precautionary measures in line with environmental standards.

The Environment Public Authority and KNPC reassured the public that the situation remains stable. Continuous joint communication and monitoring are being maintained to safeguard the environment and public safety while enhancing transparency.  (KUNA) —
