KUWAIT CITY, Jul 30: The General Directorate for Drug Control has arrested 16 defendants in nine separate cases following intensive monitoring and investigations into suspected drug trafficking and use, Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior said.

The authorities said the suspects were found in possession of various narcotic and psychotropic substances allegedly intended for trafficking and personal use.

The operations resulted in the seizure of:

  • 3 kilograms and 35 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • 15 grams of heroin
  • 11 grams of hashish
  • 2 grams of a chemical substance
  • 96 papers laced with chemical liquid, along with additional scraps saturated with the same substance
  • 2,502 Captagon tablets
  • 81 tablets and capsules containing psychoactive substances
  • 3 digital scales
  • KD 960 in cash, allegedly from drug-trafficking proceeds
Crystal meth smuggling attempt foiled

In one of the cases, drug control officers thwarted an attempt to smuggle crystal methamphetamine into Kuwait.

Following detailed investigations, officers identified a postal shipment containing the narcotic substance, which had been concealed inside the package. Authorities tracked the shipment and arrested the suspect immediately after he received it.

Officers also found an additional quantity of crystal methamphetamine in the suspect’s possession. The substance was allegedly intended for distribution.

The Ministry of Interior said the suspects and all seized items were referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal action.
