CAIRO, Sept 7 (KUNA): Kuwait’s athletics team added three more medals to its tally on Sunday at the 12th Arab U18 Athletics Championships in Cairo, taking its overall haul to five medals.
Yasmeen Waleed claimed gold in the high jump after clearing 1.66 meters, while Abbas Al-Nasser secured silver in the pole vault with a height of 4.20 meters.
Haidar Al-Qattan completed Kuwait’s medal haul for the day by winning bronze in the 100 meters with a new personal best of 10.77 seconds.
Head of the Kuwaiti delegation Faisal Al-Dosam praised the athletes’ performances, describing the results as a positive sign of the progress of Kuwaiti athletics and the effectiveness of the team’s preparations.
Kuwait has now collected two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal at the championships.
On Saturday, Abdulrahman Al-Azmi won gold in the long jump, while teammate Fahad Al-Dhafiri took silver in the same event.
The championships are being held at the Olympic Center in Maadi, Cairo, with athletes from 15 Arab countries competing. Around 276 male and female athletes are participating in the event.
