Kuwait athletes target more success at Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games

NAGOYA, Japan, Sept 24: Kuwait’s athletes resume their campaign at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 today, with action across swimming, athletics and other sports.

Swimming gets underway at 4 a.m., with Mona Al-Farsi competing in the women’s 50m butterfly heats. Rashid Al-Tarmoum follows in the men’s 50m breaststroke heats, while Mohammed Al-Otaibi competes in the men’s 200m butterfly heats.

In athletics, Talal Al-Rashoud competes in the men’s hammer throw final at 2 p.m., aiming for a strong showing at the Asian competition.

In shooting, veteran Abdullah Al-Rashidi and Iman Al-Shammaa delivered a solid performance in the mixed team skeet qualification. The Kuwaiti pair finished fifth with 137 targets out of 150, missing the final and a chance to compete for medals by just one target. They hit 48 targets in each of the first two rounds and 41 in the third.

In squash, Kuwait’s Ammar Al-Tamimi exited the men’s singles in the round of 16 after a 3-0 defeat to Pakistan’s Noor Zaman, the world No. 3.

Meanwhile, promising swimmer Khaled Al-Otaibi set two new Kuwaiti records in the individual medley. He clocked 4:28.75 in the 400m individual medley, then set another national record in the 200m event with 2:07.14.
