KUWAIT CITY, June 22: Kuwait has asked the United Nations to allow all blacklisted Kuwaitis whose assets have been frozen, including the preacher Hajjaj Al-Ajmi, blacklisted terrorists belonging to the al-Qaeda and DAESH to have access to their funds because they have been tapping into their accounts despite a UN asset freeze, according to documents reviewed by the Wall Street Journal, reports Al-Rai daily quoting US media sources.

The sources said the documents loopholes in the current UN Security Council sanctions procedures. For example, the sources said Qatari financier, Khalifa Al Subaie, is among those who have accessed their funds. The US believes Al Subaie to be a longtime funder of al-Qaeda’s senior leadership, including 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed
