Kuwait Arrests 2 Minors Over Alleged ISIS-Linked Plot to Target Place of Worship

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of two minors accused of communicating with members of the terrorist organization ISIS and receiving training in the manufacture of explosives as part of an alleged plot to target a place of worship belonging to one of the country’s sects.

The Ministry said the arrests were carried out by security personnel from the State Security Service following monitoring, investigations and continued security follow-up.

According to the statement, the two minors had allegedly established contact with ISIS members and received training related to the manufacture of explosives, with the intention of carrying out an attack against a place of worship.

The ministry said legal procedures have been initiated against the suspects and that they have been referred to the competent authorities to complete the necessary investigations and other procedures in accordance with Kuwaiti law.

The Ministry of Interior stressed that security agencies will continue monitoring and pursuing activities that could threaten the security and safety of society, and will take legal action against practices that violate the law.

The ministry also issued a warning to parents, urging them to closely monitor their children and educate them about the dangers of engaging in extremist ideas, criminal activities or other conduct prohibited by law.

It specifically called on parents to monitor their children’s use of social media, strengthen family supervision and guidance, and promote values of loyalty, national belonging and respect for the law.

The ministry said such efforts are essential to protecting young people, raising their awareness and strengthening their sense of responsibility toward the country and society.
