KUWAIT CITY, Nov 1: The General Department of Criminal Investigation, represented by the Counterfeiting and Forgery Crimes Department, has arrested a Syrian doctor working at the Jahra Specialized Dental Center on charges of fraud and embezzling money from patients.

According to the Ministry of Interior, the arrest followed information that the doctor had been ordering dental supplies in quantities exceeding patients’ actual treatment requirements, misleading them into believing that the additional materials were necessary and providing them with purchase invoices.

After completing the treatment, the doctor allegedly returned the unused supplies to pharmacies and pocketed the refunded amounts without the patients’ knowledge.

Following investigations, security officers arrested the suspect at his workplace and seized dental instruments and purchase invoices in his possession.

During questioning, the doctor reportedly confessed to carrying out the practice repeatedly involving five patients. The amounts allegedly embezzled ranged from KD 120 to KD 150.

The suspect was referred to the competent authorities for further legal action.

The Ministry of Interior said the arrest was part of ongoing security efforts to combat fraud and related crimes.
