KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, has arrested two suspects in separate cases involving drug trafficking, unlicensed activities and possession of state-subsidized food supplies, the Ministry of Interior announced.
In the first case, Farwaniya Governorate detectives arrested a Sri Lankan national working as a driver at a private residence after receiving information that he was selling drugs in Ardiya. Investigations and surveillance footage reportedly showed him distributing narcotics while transporting his employer’s family, allegedly exploiting his job to avoid suspicion.
The suspect was found carrying bags containing methamphetamine. Further quantities were discovered in his room following coordination with the homeowner. Investigators also seized money transfers worth KD 6,573 sent to individuals in Sri Lanka. The suspect reportedly confessed to possessing the drugs for trafficking and sale in cooperation with an individual outside Kuwait.
In a separate case, Ahmadi Governorate detectives arrested a Bangladeshi national working at a gas station while he was allegedly exchanging currency for travelers without a license. A search of his residence uncovered state-subsidized food supplies. Investigations also revealed that he was allegedly selling cigarettes and printing documents for travelers arriving in and departing from Kuwait without the required licenses.
The ministry urged families and employers to monitor domestic workers and report suspicious activities. Both suspects and the seized items were referred to the competent authorities for legal action.
