KUWAIT CITY, Nov 27: As part of ongoing national security efforts to combat financial crimes and trace the sources of suspicious funds, coordinated operations between the Financial Crimes Department and the Cybercrime Department have led to the arrest of a social media user who had been posting videos and photographs displaying large sums of money and gold pieces. The individual was offering financial assistance to interested followers, in what authorities suspect was an attempt to promote funds of unknown origin and lure the public through illegal means.

Following sustained monitoring and the initiation of search and investigative procedures, security inquiries revealed that the suspect was wanted in multiple cases. These included misuse of a telephone, incitement to debauchery and immorality, fraud and deception, and violation of the privacy of others. Additional cases recorded against him involved disturbing authorities, intentionally damaging the property of others, and filing a false report.

Further checks showed that the individual had an extensive criminal record, including previous convictions for burglary, breaking into houses, assault, robbery, and theft involving threats of violence. He was also subject to non-final prison sentences related to disturbing the authorities, incitement to debauchery and immorality, and fraud and deception.

After compiling all necessary information and securing legal authorization from the Public Prosecution, security personnel apprehended the suspect while in possession of money suspected to be of illegal or unknown origin, which he had been promoting through his electronic account. Both the suspect and the confiscated items were referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal proceedings.

The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing and arresting all individuals who misuse social media platforms for activities that violate the law. It emphasized that it will not tolerate any attempt to disseminate content aimed at undermining community security, and stressed that legal action will be taken against anyone proven to be involved in such offenses.
