Traffic Department tracks suspect through social media videos

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 15: The General Traffic Department has arrested a motorist for reckless driving in the Al-Wafra agricultural area after identifying a vehicle featured in social media videos documenting dangerous driving.

The arrest was carried out by the department’s Security Control Department following surveillance of vehicles allegedly being used for reckless driving, based on videos circulated on social media.

After identifying a vehicle previously documented in such videos, traffic officers planned an ambush that led to the apprehension of the driver and the vehicle.

The necessary legal procedures were taken against the suspect, who was referred to the Central Prison. The vehicle was impounded and sent to the crusher, according to the Ministry of Interior.

The General Traffic Department stressed that it would continue monitoring and pursuing motorists involved in reckless driving and taking deterrent legal measures against violators to protect road users and safeguard lives and property.
