KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17: Kuwait’s Criminal Investigation Department arrested five fugitives within 24 hours after they escaped during a security raid on a gathering at a five-star hotel in the Capital Governorate, bringing the total number of detainees to 22.
The arrests came following directives from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah to enforce the law without exception.
The incident began early Friday when the Capital Security Directorate received a complaint about loud noise, music and shouting inside a five-star hotel in the Capital Governorate.
Police patrols responded to the complaint and raided the venue, arresting 17 people, including five men described as wearing women’s dancewear and being almost naked. The report also stated that some of those present were visibly intoxicated or appeared to be under the influence of drugs.
Five people managed to flee during the initial raid. Security personnel launched search operations to identify and apprehend them.
