KUWAIT CITY, Jun 18: Kuwait’s General Directorate for Drug Control has arrested 17 suspects in separate cases as part of ongoing security operations targeting drug trafficking and the distribution of illegal substances across the country.
The suspects, including Kuwaiti citizens and individuals of various nationalities, were found in possession of different types and quantities of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and alcohol intended for trafficking and personal use. Authorities also seized equipment allegedly used for preparing and packaging drugs, along with cash suspected to be proceeds from drug-related activities.
The seized items included:
- Approximately 1 kilogram and 5 grams of synthetic cannabinoids
- 5 sheets of synthetic cannabinoids
- Around 250 grams of Lyrica powder
- Approximately 465 grams of methamphetamine
- Around 430 grams of hashish
- Approximately 253 grams of cocaine
- Around 30 grams of marijuana
- Approximately 20 grams of narcotic mushroom substance
- 4,860 Lyrica capsules
- 83 tablets and pills of various psychotropic substances
- 152 bottles of liquor
- Around 50 milliliters of narcotic oil
- 8 sensitive scales used for weighing substances
- 7 bullets
- KD 950 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking
The Ministry of Interior said the suspects and the seized materials have been referred to the relevant authorities for legal action.
The ministry reaffirmed that security forces will continue intensive operations against drug dealers and traffickers, stressing that strict legal measures will be taken against anyone involved in trafficking, promoting, using, or facilitating activities related to narcotics and psychotropic substances.
Authorities also urged the public to cooperate with security agencies in combating the spread of drugs and protecting society from their harmful effects.
