Kuwait Arrests 14 in Eight Drug Cases, Seizes Crystal Meth, Hashish and Marijuana

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 16: Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has announced the arrest of 14 suspects in eight separate drug-related cases as part of ongoing efforts by the Criminal Security Sector to combat drug trafficking and protect society from the dangers of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

The arrests were carried out by the General Directorate for Drug Control during a series of targeted security operations aimed at tracking down drug dealers and individuals involved in the possession, distribution and promotion of illegal substances.

During the operations, authorities confiscated a variety of narcotic and psychotropic substances, as well as equipment used in the preparation and packaging of drugs.

Drugs and substances seized

Authorities recovered the following quantities:

  • 1.425 kilograms of methamphetamine (crystal meth)
  • 1.15 kilograms of hashish
  • 365 grams of marijuana
  • 3 grams of heroin
  • Four A4-sized sheets saturated with synthetic cannabinoids ("chemical" drugs)
  • 80 capsules of Lyrica
  • Three psychotropic tablets
Equipment seized

Security personnel also confiscated:

  • Six precision digital scales
  • Various drug-preparation and packaging tools
  • Additional drug paraphernalia used in trafficking and distribution activities

The Ministry of Interior said all 14 suspects, along with the seized narcotics and evidence, have been referred to the competent authorities for legal proceedings.

The ministry stressed that its anti-drug campaign will continue with determination and that security agencies remain committed to pursuing drug traffickers and dealers across the country. It reiterated that there will be no tolerance for anyone involved in trafficking, promoting, possessing or using narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.

The ministry further emphasized that combating drugs remains a key priority in safeguarding public security and protecting the community from the social and health risks associated with drug abuse and trafficking.
