KUWAIT CITY, Aug 9: The General Directorate for Drug Control arrested 12 suspects in eight separate cases following surveillance and investigation operations that uncovered their alleged involvement in possessing narcotic and psychotropic substances for trafficking and personal use.
Authorities seized the following items during the operations:
- 86,700 Lyrica capsules
- 940 grams of heroin
- 405 grams of methamphetamine
- 100 psychotropic tablets
- 100 ml of synthetic cannabinoids
- 20 grams of marijuana
- 4 glass bottles containing synthetic cannabinoids
- 3 precision scales
In one of the cases, the General Directorate for Drug Control worked in coordination with the General Directorate of Customs to arrest a suspect after he received a shipment arriving from abroad.
Authorities discovered that narcotics had been concealed inside decorative panels contained in the shipment.
When confronted with the seized substances, the suspect reportedly confessed that he had been instructed by a person outside the country to receive the shipment in exchange for money.
The suspects and all seized items were referred to the competent authorities for the necessary legal action.
