KUWAIT CITY, March 8, 2026: Kuwait air defense systems are actively confronting a wave of hostile drones that have penetrated the nation’s airspace, the Ministry of Defense confirmed early Sunday.
The Ministry’s official spokesperson, Colonel Saud Abdulaziz Al‑Atwan, said that air defense forces are continuing operations to intercept the drones. He noted that some civilian facilities sustained material damage from falling debris and shrapnel during the interception efforts, but no injuries have been reported so far.
The General Staff of the Army stated that both air defense systems and Kuwaiti Air Force fighter jets remain fully engaged in targeting hostile aerial objects as part of ongoing defensive measures to protect the country’s airspace and vital sites.
Authorities also emphasized that explosions heard across the country are the result of successful interceptions by air defense systems. The General Staff urged citizens and residents to follow official safety and security instructions issued by the relevant authorities until the situation stabilizes.
