Kuwait Appeals Court Upholds Two-Year Sentence in Fake X Account Case

KUWAIT CITY, April 1: The Court of Appeals, presided over by Judge Nasser Salem Al-Haid, with Judges Mutaib Al-Aradhi and Saud Al-Sanea as members, upheld the two-year prison sentence with hard labor, followed by deportation, imposed on a bedoun who was behind a fake X platform account. The Public Prosecution charged the defendant with insulting HH the Amir and the Amiri entity, and disseminating false information and malicious rumors about the internal situation in the country.

The investigation of a State Security officer revealed that the defendant was the actual user of the X account. He was apprehended after the officer obtained a warrant from the prosecution, while the search of his residence led to the discovery of the telephone used in the incident.
