KUWAIT CITY, Jun 25: Kuwait’s General Department of Anti-Narcotics recorded major operations during the first half of 2026, resulting in the arrest of 1,564 suspects in 1,200 cases and the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, weapons and ammunition.
The Ministry of Interior said the operations were carried out under the guidance of Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, with follow-up by Ministry Undersecretary Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahaib and leadership from Anti-Narcotics Department Director General Brigadier Mohammed Qabazard.
Authorities seized 323 kilograms of narcotic substances, 635,000 drug pills and 9,000 bottles of alcohol as part of efforts targeting smuggling, trafficking and drug promotion networks.
The crackdown also resulted in the deportation of 614 expatriates, while authorities recorded 346 addiction cases, including 305 males and 41 females. Three drug users died during the period.
Investigations revealed links between some suspects and weapons-related crimes, with authorities seizing 26 firearms and 1,423 rounds of ammunition.
The seized weapons included air rifles, pistols, rifles, Kalashnikov weapons, an MP5 automatic weapon and other firearms, highlighting connections between some criminal networks and activities threatening public security.
The Ministry of Interior said operations against major smugglers, distributors, promoters and users will continue within the framework of protecting society and preventing the spread of narcotics.
