KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, at the US State Department in Washington, D.C., on Monday. Sheikh Fahad was accompanied by Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States, Sheikha Al-Zain Al-Sabah, and an official delegation. The meeting took place as part of Sheikh Fahad’s official visit to the United States, underscoring the strong and longstanding partnership between the two nations.
During the talks, both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, with a particular focus on enhancing joint coordination and maintaining close communication to advance mutual interests. They also reviewed ongoing efforts aimed at promoting regional security and stability.
Sheikh Fahad emphasized the deep-rooted historical and strategic ties between Kuwait and the United States, expressing appreciation for the pivotal role played by the US State Department in fostering cooperation and promoting peace and stability in the region. He noted that these efforts have significantly contributed to development and mutual understanding between the two countries.
The Kuwaiti minister reaffirmed his country’s commitment to maintaining regular coordination and high-level exchanges, which he said are essential for expanding areas of cooperation and benefiting from American expertise—especially in the fields of security, diplomacy, and institutional capacity-building. Such collaboration, he added, strengthens national institutions and enhances their operational efficiency.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of their discussions and voiced optimism about the future of Kuwait–US relations. They exchanged thanks and appreciation, reaffirming their shared commitment to deepening cooperation and working together to advance common goals and interests.
