His Highness the Amir receives the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister and the official delegation accompanying him, on the occasion of his official visit to the country.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, received at Bayan Palace on Tuesday, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa and the official delegation accompanying him, on the occasion of his official visit to the country.

The reception was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al- Sabah. Prince Salman conveyed to His Highness the Amir, the greetings and appreciation of King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, and his wishes for His Highness the Amir, long-lasting health and for the people of Kuwait further progress and prosperity.

His Highness the Amir conveyed his greetings to King Hamad wishing him continued good health, and the people of Bahrain further progress and prosperity. During the meeting, cordial discussions took place, reflecting the deep-rooted historical relations between the two countries and their peoples, and ways to strengthen these relations across various fields to serve their common interests. They also reviewed issues of mutual concern and the latest developments regionally and internationally. The meeting was attended by Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs, Retired Lieutenant General Jamal Al-Dhiyab Director of the Office of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Abdulaziz Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah Undersecretary of the Amiri Diwan, and Mazen Al-Issa Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs at the Amiri Diwan.

Meanwhile, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah separately received at Bayan Palace the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, on the occasion of his official visit. Prince Salman conveyed the greetings and best wishes of King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa to His Highness the Crown Prince, while the discussions reviewed the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and their peoples and addressed ways to further enhance cooperation across various domains.

The meeting was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, Head of the Crown Prince’s Diwan Sheikh Thamer Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, along with senior officials. His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah also received Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation at Bayan Palace.

During the meeting, His Highness conveyed greetings and best wishes to King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. The meeting was attended by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, Head of the Premier’s Diwan Abdulaziz Al-Dakheel, Premier’s Diwan Undersecretary Sheikh Khaled Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Sabah, and Assistant Foreign Minister for GCC Affairs Ambassador Najeeb Al-Bader. Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa arrived in Kuwait on Tuesday on an official visit aimed at reinforcing deep-rooted relations and longstanding historical ties between the two countries.

Kuwait and Bahrain share strong bonds founded on common history, unity of destiny, and convergence of views on regional and international issues, strengthening their relationship over time and underscoring a shared commitment to mutual interests. Bilateral relations are widely described as solid and steadily advancing, supported by the wise leadership of both countries and, reflected within society in both nations. Kuwaiti-Bahraini relations date back centuries and are characterized by political alignment, rational approaches to regional challenges, adherence to dialogue, and continuous expansion of cooperation across sectors serving both peoples.

His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah paid key visits to Bahrain, notably a state visit in February 2024, and another in December 2025 to attend the GCC Supreme Council session. In January 2026, former Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya led Kuwait’s delegation to the 12th session of the Kuwaiti-Bahraini Joint Higher Committee, reflecting sustained coordination and institutional cooperation. Strong political relations positively influence economic and trade ties, supported by partnerships between Kuwaiti and Bahraini institutions and recent agreements expanding cooperation, including a joint environmental accord to protect natural resources.

Kuwait, in turn, supported Bahrain prior to its full United Nations membership by facilitating diplomatic training and opening its embassies to Bahraini personnel establishing overseas missions. In April 2019, the two countries signed eight cooperation documents during the Joint Higher Committee session in Manama, covering areas including customs, e-commerce, environment, culture, agriculture, and trade development. To strengthen security cooperation, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding in July 2023 during the first meeting of the joint security committee between their interior ministries.

The two countries maintain educational agreements promoting academic exchange, with universities in both states hosting students from Kuwait and Bahrain across diverse disciplines. At the popular level, relations are marked by close kinship ties, shared traditions, and strong social cohesion, reflecting deep-rooted cultural affinity between the two societies. Bahrain currently chairs the Gulf Cooperation Council and holds non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council for 2026- 2027, reflecting international confidence in its balanced diplomatic approach.
