Kuwait Airways to Resume 35 Flights

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: Kuwait Airways announced on Saturday the resumption of 35 commercial flights from Kuwait International Airport (Terminal T4) starting next week, marking a gradual return to normal operations following the reopening of the country’s airspace.

Acting CEO Abdulwahab Al-Shatti said the initial phase will cover 13 key destinations, including Beirut, Riyadh, London, Istanbul, Dhaka, Mumbai, Kochi, Colombo, Delhi, Manila, Cairo, Jeddah and Trivandrum.

According to the announced schedule, flights to Cairo will operate daily starting Sunday, while Beirut services will run twice weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays from April 27. Riyadh flights are set for Tuesdays and Fridays beginning April 28, and Jeddah will be served four times weekly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from the same date.

Flights to London will operate three times a week—Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays—starting April 28. Colombo will have one weekly flight on Mondays from April 27, while Istanbul services will begin on Wednesdays from April 29. Delhi flights are scheduled weekly on Mondays from April 28.

Kochi will be served three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays starting April 27, while Manila will operate three weekly flights on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting Sunday. Dhaka will have four weekly services on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays from April 27, while Mumbai flights will run twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from April 28. Trivandrum flights are scheduled for Mondays and Fridays starting April 27.

Al-Shatti said additional destinations will be announced once regulatory approvals are secured, noting the airline’s operational readiness and flexibility in handling evolving circumstances. He emphasized that Kuwait Airways continues to follow well-defined plans to ensure operational continuity while maintaining the highest standards of safety and service quality.

The resumption of flights follows the reopening of Kuwait’s airspace by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation last Thursday after a temporary closure imposed on February 28 as a precaution amid regional tensions.

Al-Shatti expressed appreciation to Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Hamoud Al-Sabah for his support of the civil aviation sector and praised the cooperation between authorities in maintaining air services during challenging conditions. He also commended Kuwait Airways staff for their dedication during the suspension period, when operations were conducted via King Fahd International Airport in Saudi Arabia.

Marking World Pilots' Day, Al-Shatti highlighted the critical role of pilots in ensuring safety and operational efficiency, praising their professionalism and contribution to strengthening passenger confidence in the national carrier.

The airline said the phased resumption reflects its commitment to restoring full operations while enhancing service quality and maintaining its leading position in the regional aviation sector. (KUNA)
