KUWAIT CITY, Apr 26: Kuwait Airways has resumed passenger operations at Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport, reporting smooth and efficient check-in procedures on Sunday as flights gradually return following the reopening of airspace.
Acting CEO Abdulwahab Al-Shatti said initial flights resumed to Cairo, Amman, Delhi, Mumbai and Manila, with operations restarting on a limited scale before expanding to more destinations in the coming weeks. The airline had earlier announced plans to operate 35 routes, beginning with 13 destinations including Beirut, Riyadh, London and Istanbul, with additional services to be scheduled after regulatory approvals.
Al-Shatti said the resumption reflects Kuwait Airways’ operational plans aimed at maintaining efficiency, safety and service quality, while thanking the Directorate General of Civil Aviation for its support and coordination. He also praised staff for maintaining operations during the suspension period, when flights were temporarily routed through Dammam in Saudi Arabia.
The move follows the reopening of Kuwait’s airspace last week after a precautionary closure imposed in late February amid regional tensions.
