KUWAIT CITY, Nov 7: The official spokesperson for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Abdullah Al-Rajhi, announced that a Kuwait Airways aircraft scheduled to depart for the Philippines encountered a minor incident early this morning at Kuwait International Airport. The aircraft, operating as Flight KU417 and carrying 284 passengers, was affected at 4:24 a.m. while still on the ground and before takeoff procedures began.
Al-Rajhi stated that the issue occurred due to an unexpected technical malfunction in the aircraft’s braking system while it was being repositioned. He confirmed that no passengers or crew members were injured, and all individuals on board remained safe and in good condition. The damage was described as minor and limited to the aircraft’s fuselage.
He added that specialized technical teams responded immediately, following all approved aviation safety protocols. The area around the aircraft was secured, and thorough technical inspections were carried out to ensure overall safety.
To minimize disruption to passengers, a replacement aircraft was arranged, and the flight departed for its destination at 12:20 p.m. the same day.
Al-Rajhi reaffirmed that passenger and crew safety is the highest priority for both the Civil Aviation Authority and Kuwait Airways, emphasizing that incidents of this nature are handled in full compliance with international aviation safety standards.
