Kuwait Airport T4 Customs Foil Drug Smuggling Attempt, Seize 4,144 Lyrica Capsules

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 18: Customs officers at Kuwait International Airport Terminal 4 (T4) have foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs and psychotropic substances into the country, the General Administration of Customs said.

The seizure was made while inspecting the luggage of a passenger arriving from Beirut. Customs officers found seven pieces of hashish weighing a total of 530 grams, along with a bag containing 1.15 grams of cocaine.

A further search uncovered 74 boxes of Lyrica, a medication listed among psychotropic substances, containing a total of 4,144 capsules.

The necessary seizure report is being prepared, with legal procedures underway. The suspect and seized items will be referred to the General Department for Narcotics Control for further action.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed that its inspectors will continue to maintain strict vigilance and take firm action against attempts to smuggle prohibited substances into Kuwait, in order to protect public safety and security.
