KUWAIT CITY, Sept 10: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced that the total passenger movement to and from Kuwait International Airport in the month of August was 1,578,945, reports Al- Seyassah daily. The Acting Director General of DGCA Imad Al-Jalawi told KUNA that the airport witnessed an increase in passenger traffic by 22 percent, and an increase in aircraft traffic by 28 percent as well as an increase in the air cargo traffic by 5 percent, during the month of August, compared to the same period last year. Al-Jalawi explained that the number of arriving passengers was 774,600 in July, while the number of departing passengers was 804,345. The total number of transit passengers was 159,795, which is an increase of 54 percent compared to August last year.

The total number of flights to and from Kuwait Airport during the month of August amounted to 12,819. The total air freight movement in August amounted to 17.2 million kilograms, with imported freight movement amounting to about 14 million kilograms, and exported freight movement amounting to about 3.1 million kilograms. Meanwhile, the Director of the Air Transportation Department at DGCA Abdullah Al-Rajhi said the establishment of a unified Gulf Civil Aviation Authority will contribute to enhancing cooperation and coordination between member states in the field of aviation and exchanging information, experiences and practices to improve and develop the level of services provided.
