KUWAIT CITY, March 12: Kuwait’s air defense systems intercepted several hostile aerial threats over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defense said Thursday, as the country continues to respond to attacks linked to the escalating confrontation with Iran.
During a media briefing, official spokesperson Colonel Saud Al‑Atwan said air defenses detected five hostile ballistic missiles, of which four were intercepted and destroyed, while one fell outside the designated threat area.
He added that seven hostile drones were also detected. Five were engaged and destroyed, while two remained outside the threat zone.
According to the ministry, a hostile drone struck a residential building in southern Kuwait at dawn, injuring two people and causing material damage. The injured were taken to hospital and are receiving medical treatment.
Falling debris from intercepted aerial threats caused temporary power disruptions in parts of Kuwait, authorities said Thursday, as security agencies continued to respond to the fallout from ongoing attacks.
