The coalition group tasked with following up on the movement of DAESH fi ghters during their meeting on Wednesday in Kuwait
KUWAIT CITY, March 15, (KUNA): The State of Kuwait has affirmed it is pursuing action at various levels for facing the so-called Islamic State (IS), known in Arabic as “DAESH.” The State of Kuwait’s efforts and its international role in facing the so-called Islamic State has been explicit, considering that several meetings have been held to back up the international coalition in its campaign to wipe out “DAESH,” said the Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah in a statement on Wednesday.Al-Jarallah, speaking to journalists after inaugurating a meeting of the coalition’s “group tasked with following up on movement of DAESH fighters,” affirmed that the gathering addresses the issue of preventing the fighters “and preparing the adequate environment for their comeback” to their countries.“We have been acting at various levels in facing DAESH within framework of the international alliance and our support for it.” Al-Jarallah said, “This meeting is being held in shadow of continuing critical circumstances and rapid developments on the regional and international arenas,” adding, “such conditions have turned into incubators for bolstering action of the terrorist organizations where mankind existence, global stability and security have been jeopardized causing humanitarian catastrophes, unprecedented in our contemporary history.“This situation warrants greater action on part of the international community to put an end to these tragic events.” He lauded efforts of the international coalition in fighting “DAESH,” noting that such action “underlines necessity of international coordination in facing terrorism.”The deputy foreign minister expressed hope that “the brothers in Iraq make progress in facing terrorism and liberate regions under control of the terrorist organization DAESH.” He also congratulated the Iraqis for liberating some of the regions that were controlled by the group wishing to see “further victories” in the campaign against the militants. Moreover, he re-affirmed the State of Kuwait’s unwavering stance in backing efforts of the international community, namely the coalition fighting terrorism, its commitment to the Security Council resolutions 2178 and 2253 “for sake of restoring peace to troubled regions by banning inflow of foreign warriors, drying up origins of funding terrorism and facing cyber-attacks. “The international community with today’s meeting affirms resolve and continuation for fighting terrorism, preparing proper circumstances to restore security and stability in the world through enacting legislations to face such crimes and double coordination with States of the globe.”“Dialogue with Iran must be based on non-intervention in domestic affairs” of the regional States. Khaled Al-Jarallah, said, adding “the basis for dialogue with Iran is non-meddling in the local affairs” of the regional countries. Kuwait has always stressed on halting such intervention “because it affects dialogue as well as the region’s security and stability,” he said, noting that the Kuwaiti authorities “have been dealing and following up with profound interest” contents of a message given to the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah from the Iranian authorities. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled received, last Monday, a message addressed to His Highness the Amir from the Iranian president — contents of which have not been officially declared. It was conveyed by the Iranian envoy in the country.“We hope to see halt of any form of meddling in the affairs of the States of the region,” he reiterated. Asked about reported deployment of some 1,000 US troops in Kuwait as part of the war against “DAESH,” Al- Jarallah said that efforts by the United States and other coalition States are ongoing and will not stop in facing these organizations.” Asked to react to remarks by the new Iraqi envoy in the country on Kuwait’s stance concerning Mina Abdullah, he said, “the file dealing with the port is open on regulating navigation.” Kuwaiti and Iraqi officials have been holding continuing meetings regarding the issue of the port on the basis of the 2012 agreement, he said. The two neighboring countries inked an agreement for regulating maritime navigation via Mina Abdullah in 2012, stipulating formation of a commission to organize the navigation, ensure safety of the waterway and conserve the environment. Kuwait meanwhile, is relentlessly exerting efforts and playing its positive role in wiping out Arab tensions and differences, Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah said.“The State of Kuwait is still continuing efforts and its positive role in clearing Arab atmospheres from any tension or disagreements that undermine fraternal Arab relations,” Al-Jarallah responded to a press question following the opening of an anti-IS international coalition group. On the US Department of the Treasury’s listing of a Kuwaiti citizen on the list of terror supporters, Al-Jarallah said: “Kuwait is coordinating with the US in this regard. Thus, this coordination did not and won’t stop. Regardless of the nationality, there is cooperation among the coalition’s countries over (terror) suspects.”On the coming Arab summit in Jordan next month, the Kuwaiti official said: “The State of Kuwait is hopefully and optimistically looking forward to this summit which will create a quantum leap in common Arab action with the participation of GCC leaders. We are convinced that this participation will constitute a push for common Arab action.” Al-Jarallah noted that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah will visit Turkey next week, and that contacts are underway for setting a date for the Turkish president’s planned visit to Kuwait. He also pointed to a planned visit by His Highness the Amir to Egypt within the framework of fraternal relations between both countries’ leaders.
