KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: The Attorney General of Kuwait, Counselor Saad Al-Safaran, has issued a decision approving a new guide on handling children within the criminal justice process. The initiative aims to strengthen safeguards for minors during the preliminary investigation phase and to establish legal and humanitarian standards that take their psychological and social needs into account.

In a press statement, the Public Prosecution noted that the adoption of this guide coincides with the International Day of the Rights of the Child, observed annually on November 20. The step reflects the Prosecution’s commitment to implementing investigation procedures that prioritize the best interests of the child, in line with its responsibility to protect society’s most vulnerable groups, particularly children.

The statement added that the guide provides Public Prosecution members with clear instructions on how to professionally and appropriately interact with children during the initial stages of an investigation.
