Kuwait adds 4 medals on final day to reach 9 at Arab Shooting Championship

MUSCAT, Dec 25: The Kuwaiti national shooting team capped off a remarkable performance at the Arab Pistol and Rifle Shooting Championship in Muscat, Oman, by adding four more medals on the final day, bringing their total haul to nine medals—1 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.

The team’s success was highlighted by the men’s 50m prone rifle team, where Khaled Al-Majed, Turki Al-Shammari, and Ali Al-Mutairi won silver, finishing behind Oman and ahead of Bahrain. Al-Majed also earned bronze in the individual category with a score of 618.1 points, narrowly missing out on silver and gold.

On the women’s side, shooters Maryam Razouqi, Retaj Al-Ziyadi, and Fajr Al-Dhabeeb claimed bronze in the team event, while Razouqi added another bronze in the individual competition. Gold went to Bahrain, and silver to Oman.

Obaid Al-Otaibi, head of the Kuwaiti delegation and Secretary-General of the Kuwaiti and Arab Shooting Federations, dedicated the achievement to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and the Kuwaiti government, praising their continued support of the sport.

Al-Otaibi also thanked Minister of Information and Culture, Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, and the Public Authority for Sports for their ongoing backing, which he said was instrumental in the team’s success.

He applauded the outstanding performances of both male and female shooters and congratulated the athletes for their impressive results. Al-Otaibi emphasized that the Shooting Club Board, led by Dweij Al-Otaibi, will continue its efforts to achieve further international, continental, and regional successes. He also commended the Omani organizing committee for their excellent management, which contributed to the smooth running of the championship.
