KUWAIT CITY, July 5: Head of the Gulf Campaign for Conservation and Director of the Technical Monitoring Department at the Ministry of Electricity and Water, Iqbal Al-Tayyar, affirmed Kuwait’s support for all initiatives to conserve electricity and water, reports Al-Seyassah daily. She pointed out that the ministry, as usual, is activating the initiative of the Ruler of Sharjah, Dr. Sultan Al-Qasimi, which he launched under the title Conservation Hour on July 1 of every year, in which various GCC countries participate.

She said this initiative is based on turning off the lights and electrical appliances that can be dispensed with at peak times for one hour from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. She pointed out that various government and private agencies, such as commercial complexes, interact with the ministry and participate in this initiative, and the participation is documented and visualized in a complete file and sent to the Sharjah Electricity Authority. She pointed out that this year, the highest load was 15,570 megawatts, while on the day of the initiative the highest load was recorded about 14,870 megawatts, pointing out that this indicates that cooperation in energy conservation. She stated EQUATE, the Civil Service Commission, Dar Al Shifa Hospital, the Scientific Club, as well as other state ministries and entities participated in the event.
