UAE ranks first: MEED index
KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: With 3.1 points, Kuwait came fourth among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and fifth regionally on the Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) magazine’s index for economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, reports Al-Anba daily. According to the report, the United Arab Emirates ranked first in the Gulf and in the region by four points, followed by Qatar and Saudi Arabia in the second and third places by 3.6 points and 3.5 points respectively.
Oman and Bahrain came in the fifth and sixth places among the GCC countries with 3 points and 2.9 points respectively, and in the sixth and seventh places regionally. Morocco and Tunisia shared the seventh place regionally by 2.9 points.
On the regional level, Egypt has been witnessing strong economic growth, and it was ranked in the fourth place with 3.2 points. This comes at a time when the economies of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are facing a sharp contraction.
