KUWAIT CITY, March 19, (Agencies): Kuwait ranked 40th in the 2026 World Happiness Report released by the Oxford Centre for Wellbeing Research recently.
The report stated that Finland maintained its position as the happiest country in the world for the ninth consecutive year, while other Nordic countries like Iceland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway are among the top 10 and Kuwait landed on the 40th spot in overall life evaluations.
On the other hand, the report cited the excessive use of social media as one of the factors that led to a remarkable decline in well-being among young people, with concerning effects on female teenagers in English-speaking countries and Western Europe.
It affirmed the significant drop in life satisfaction among individuals under the age of 25 in the United States of America, Canada, Australia and New Zealand over the past decade due to long hours spent on social media platforms.
Meanwhile, Costa Rica rose to fourth place, entering the top five after climbing from 23rd position in 2023. The report attributed this improvement to a higher level of well-being due to strong family bonds and social connections.
